I know I'm not very creative when it comes to the titles of my posts, but I didn't know what to call the crazy fun filled weekend we just had! First off it was Thanksgiving which we spent with Brett's family and grandparents, Vern and Marge! Thanks for Hosting Patti!
Second, it was the beginning of a new tradition. Nebraska vs Iowa! We of course made the trip to Lincoln to celebrate the game. While Brett and I didn't actually go to the game, we sure did enjoy some tailgating beforehand and then celebrating the win on 'O' street, like we would have done 4 years ago! We even visited the place where our romance first began, "The Bar"! How romantic, I know! But hey, it worked for us!
Lincoln was filled with family and friends. The Maxfield's, Kirk and Rochelle, Molly, Steve and Kelsey made the trip down and we all met up beforehand to tailgate for a little! We lucked out with the weather! Wasn't perfect but for late November, it could have been a lot worse!
In addition to the Maxfield's, we were blessed with the presence of my brothers and my Cousin Chris Longner and his wife Jackie. We decided not to let the fact that they are graduates from the University of Iowa deter us from hanging out all day!
We watched the game with Brett's family at Matthew's apartment clubhouse! Great hospitality, Matthew!! Thanks again.
We had so much fun and hope that this tradition continues over the next few years, even if it means people having to travel from a far to be there!!!:) Considering the day began with tailgating at approximately 8:00am, it is safe to assume that the evening was a little out of hand and that we all called it a night by 10:00pm! But all in all, I'd say it was a success and definitely can not wait to do it again next year in Iowa City!
